Mental Health First Aid

Duration: Various

Delivery Method: Face to Face or Virtually

Course Capacity: Please Enquire

Mental Health First Aid – MHFA, is an internationally recognised course that aims to provide knowledge and confidence, so you can support a person experiencing mental health problems.

Just like physical first aid, a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider®) can help a person before professional help is received. MHFA should not be considered as an alternative to professional help and it’s not designed to be therapeutic.   On completion of the course you will have people who can help in a crisis. We will teach them how to encourage early intervention and provide good information on where to get help.

Course Aims

A key aim of MHFA is to reduce the stigma of mental health. On completing the course you will have:

  • An understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of a mental health issue
  • Confidence to step in, so that you can reassure and support a person in distress
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills, such as non-judgemental listening
  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix
