Trauma Risk Management Practitioner Training

What Is TRiM?

Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) is an evidence-based, peer support framework designed to assist individuals exposed to traumatic incidents. Originally developed in the UK military, TRiM is now widely used across sectors such as healthcare, emergency services, NGOs, and private industry.

TRiM Practitioners are trained to assess how individuals are coping after a traumatic experience, identify those at risk, and guide them toward appropriate support services. The goal is to foster early intervention, maintain psychological safety, and reduce the risk of longer-term mental health issues in the workplace.

Why TRiM Works

At its core, TRiM is based on the power of peer support. Colleagues are often more willing to open up to someone who understands their working environment, making it easier to detect distress early. Rather than being a one-time response, TRiM offers an ongoing system of trauma monitoring, structured intervention, and resilience building.
